Four decades ago a very nervous little Dennis stepped out upon a stage to perform in his very first dance show. After completing his rather small tap dance, he bowed (to not quite what you would call "thunderous" applause), and left the stage. In the wings he asked the curmudgeonly old stagehand pulling the curtain what he thought of his performance. With the experience of the ages, and having seen all the "greats", this wise elder statesman of the theatre took the cigar out of his mouth and responded, "Well kid, I'd study lighting design if I were you!" The rest is history.
That history included brief stints pursuing degrees in biology, medicine, music, literature, television, directing, and scenic design until he finally caught a successful career designing lighting for theatre and television. He has lit countless celebrities on hundreds of major television productions from the East Coast to the West Coast of the United States (with brief forays into Europe).
He won two EMMY AWARDS; one for the OPRAH WINFREY SHOW, and one for the daytime soap opera ALL MY CHILDREN - in addition to collecting six EMMY nominations. He received the International Teleproduction Society's MONITOR AWARD (along with 3 nominations). He won three AXIEM AWARDS (for Absolute eXcellence in Electronic Media) -- for GOOD MORNING AMERICA, THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW, and THE MONTEL WILLIAMS SHOW.
He serves as Vice-President of Design of the prestigious LIGHTING DESIGN GROUP, headquartered in New York City. He is currently creating "the look" of the upcoming King World talk show ANANDA; but his greatest accomplishment to date is the "design and illumination" of his daughter, Amanda.
