When you ask Discreet Edit gurus like Ron Shook and Jack Pfeiffer who they look up to as the most savvy Edit user around, they'll tell you about Larry Sherwood, former Senior Product Specialist for Edit. "He's a legend among Edit users," says Creative Cow's Ron Shook. "The legend of Larry Sherwood datres back to the early days of D/Vision when he loaded up his car with a non-functional D/Vision system and drove from Texas to Chicago and told the engineers: 'Now, you make this thing work!' He drove the engineers so hard that they eventually hired him and he became the guy that made Edit become much of which it has. Edit users owe a lot to Larry Sherwood."

"And we are pleased that he is a part of the Discreet Edit forum team here at Creative Cow, joining his old friends Ron Shook, Jack Pfeiffer, Dave Friend and Marisu Fronc -- who together have built one of the most vital editing support communities on the Net. We have little doubt that Larry's expertise will only further add to this great user resource," says Creative Cow's Kathlyn Lindeboom.

Larry began his postproduction career in Los Angeles at the prestigious "The Post Group" in 1981. He worked his way up from the tape vault to the position of Technical Operations Supervisor in 1985. In 1987, Larry was one of the founding members of The Post Group's Nonlinear Division called The Film Unit. This group specialized in the electronic posting of film-originated, long-form projects using the CMX 6000, laser disc-based NLE. As Editorial Post Supervisor and staff editor for the film unit, he worked on notable projects such as the mini-series Lonesome Dove, the feature film Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, both directed by Simon Wincer. He also worked on Graffiti Bridge, directed by Prince.

In 1991, Larry became a freelance editor working on a mini series for Michael Mann called Drug Wars and an episodic show for Trilogy Productions called Space Rangers.

In 1993, Larry had his fill of the Hollywood scene and left L.A. with his family for a better life experience in Austin, Texas. He purchased several D/Vision Pro 2.2's and opened an offline boutique at a facility in Austin. In 1995, he created Sherwood Post Production Services, an independent Post Production facility and a sub-dealer for Pro 2.2.

He edited and post supervised a weekly show for NFL films/Prime Cable for which he was a finalist for an International Monitor Award for Best Editing in Sports. The show was edited and broadcast to satellite using D/Vision Online 1.0.

Larry began work for D/Vision as their NAB demo artist in 1995 and was hired on full time as the Product Specialist in 1996. Since then, he has played a key role in the continued development of edit for Discreet/AutoDesk.

Larry is now back in the freelance world of Sherwood Post, still acting as a consultant to Discreet for Edit.

Larry and his wife Debbie currently still live in Austin, Texas with their 3 daughters.

His hobbies include golf, boating, hiking.
