Kurt Murphy
Art Director, WIVB-TV Buffalo, New York USA
|
 |
Kurt Murphy is the Art Director at WIVB-TV, a CBS affiliate, in Buffalo, New York.
Due to equipment and capitol money constraints at the station, he was
an unknowing pioneer to the introduction of desktop animation and video
into broadcast.
A regular speaker at the Broadcast Designer's Association International
and CBS seminars, he started his own company, "Paws for Effect," which
creates animation and commercial spots on the desktop. Kurt also
teaches advanced Computer Motion Imaging at the University of New York
at Buffalo.
When he's not in front of the computer, Kurt's usually on his bicycle or playing volleyball -- but not too well.
You can find Kurt Murphy hosting in Creative COW's and Chyron Forum.

Kurt Murphy looks at Zaxwerks Invigorator Training: Vol 1
Broadcast designer Kurt Murphy has been using After Effects since it went by the name of CoSA, but even then, Kurt found its one big drawback was the inability to create true 3D objects in 3D space. That is until Zaxwerks Invigorator came along. And now Zaxwerks Invigorator Training (Volume 1) by Serge Hamad is the perfect solution to get up to speed using this plug-in.

Creating a Glass Globe
When broadcast designer Kurt Murphy received a glass globe as a gift, it inspired him to see if he could create one in After Effects. In this tutorial, Kurt demonstrates creating and animating a glass globe totally in After Effects using Solids and Effects. This project is totally self-contained, needing no outside footage, but you will need the production bundle to complete it. Also nice but not necessary is the Trapcode Starglow plug-in.
