Cactus Dan Libisch
Libisch Graphic Design Midvale, Utah USA
I'm
a freelance 3D artist working here in Midvale, Utah.I started out as a
draftsman many years ago in Fayetteville, North Carolina but wasn't
really satisfied with that so, I went to Fayetteville Technical
Community College and studied commercial art and print design. For the
past 20 years I've worked for several printing companies, as a
Macintosh Operator, on the east coast between North Carolina and
Pennsylvania. During this time, at home, I dabbled with 3D software,
starting out on an Atari ST with CAD3D and CyberSculpt and eventually
upgrading to a Macintosh Centris 650 with Infini-D and Alias Sketch. In
1996 one of the companies I worked for opened a second plant here in
Salt Lake City, so the company relocated me. After 5 years of operation
the plant shut down and I became unemployed.
A
couple of months before the shut down, I had upgraded to an iMac with
Cinema 4D GO and suddenly found myself with plenty of time to
experiment with it. I created a few renderings and emailed them to a
friend of mine who is a game developer and he was pretty impressed. He
asked me if I wanted to do some work for him on a new project and I
agreed. Since then I've upgrade to Cinema 4D XL and Bodypaint to give
me the production power I need to get the work done. The work that I'm
doing is creating models and rendering them for game sprites.
After going through Maxon's Mime Mocca tutorial, Cactus Dan discovered that when he moved the controllers around, the rig didn't behave as he expected. He was quite discouraged and found himself almost at the point of giving up on Mocca and Soft IK, but needless to say, Cactus Dan is not one to easily give up. In this tutorial, Cactus Dan Libisch shares what he learned by working through the problems.
