Roland has been in the media industry for the last ten years. After suitably preparing himself with an Economics degree from the University of Toronto, Canada, Roland ventured into the swashbuckling media industry as a copywriter in an Ad Agency. From there he moved on to becoming a scriptwriter/producer with an interactive multimedia company wayyyyyy back in 1992 when AE was still very much an EGG.

Roland is very much into music creation and almost exclusively incorporates his own compositions into his work. Roland has also edited on the Media100 for the past seven years and has done demos (on larger-than-life screens) for Media100 Inc. at Broadcast Asia, Asia's equivalent to NAB. As you must know by now, he also enjoys sharing his knowledge with others. In his 'previous life', he has worked as a Consultant/Lecturer for a local Arts College in Singapore.

Roland also offers his own classes in Adobe After Effects and Adobe Photoshop for Video Editors/Post Production. He can conduct one-2-one sessions or setup a multi-student class. Get in touch with him directly should you be interested. He has also done consulting work related to post production for a number of companies. He has also written an article (that got major billing) for a regional trade magazine. The article was so well-received that Roland was immediately offered other writing opportunites which, unfortunately, he wasn't able to commit to at that time.

Today, Roland works as a fulltime freelancer using Adobe After Effects to create cool stuff for his clients. His work has been used by companies such as BBC World Service, WorldSport TV, SBS (Austrlia), Animal Planet, Mediacorp, MTV Asia, Silicon Graphics Inc. HP, EDS, Supreme Court (Singapore), Inland Revenue (Singapore) and Lexmark.

Roland likes to work with other professionals in a team environment and simply loves to work with honest and creative folks. Being a freelancer allows him more breadth to work with other like-minded proponents and helps to drive his creative juices and technical knowledge to the extremes.

Roland will forever be indebted to folks such as Chris and Trish Meyer, Brian Maffitt, JJ Gifford, Rob Birnholz, Mark Simpson, and Richard Lainhart for not only inspiring him to learn more about After Effects but more so to SHARE his knowledge in After Effects with others. Roland is a self-professed evangelist for Adobe After Effects and all things GOOD.

During his spare time these days, Roland likes to play his guitar and write music.
