After
studying English literature and landing a job as a technical writer,
David returned to one of his first passions: drawing. This being the
21st century, it didn't take long before the CG bug bit him.
In
fact, in a distant past, that bug had lead to his first CG artwork: a
grayscale picture of a dragon at 2K resolution, painstakingly clicked
into existence, pixel by single pixel, on his father's state-of-the art
workstation - a sickly grey Atari ST.
These
days, graphic design, computer animation and visual effects are his
main interest. Attending the only Maya course in his native Belgium did
not appease his hunger for 3D skills, hence David's presence on these
forums. Recently, he's discovered the wondrous world of compositing
with Shake.
To
help realize his ambitions, he's started freelancing as a graphic
designer and effects animator. Who knows, maybe someday soon David will
get his foot into the door at one of the few Belgian post or animation
facilities.
David Heijl takes a look at Sybex' new book: Learning Maya 5 | Rendering and concludes..."judging on contents only, for beginning through intermediate Mayans, this is a must-have book. Good job, Alias."
