Robert Gregory, or "Robie" as his friends like to call him, was born in Toronto in 1969 but lived around the world when he was young (his father worked for a goverment agency).
He discovered the world of editing at school in 1985, on an old Sony® U-matic 3/4" system. He then made his way to a regional television station, doing "no-budget" local commercial spots and other station shorts.
In 1994, he jumped on an Avid system and decided to never go back to linear bays. But the year 1998 changed his life: He went to NAB where he saw a new editorial system named smoke (from Discreet Logic) and told himself that "I want to work with this!" And he's been editing on a smoke since then.
